NHS 10 Year Health Plan

In 2024, the Government announced its intention to develop a 10-year plan for the NHS in England. The plan was published on 4 July and focuses on delivering three big shifts - from hospital to community care, from analogue to digital and a shift in focus from treatment to prevention.

To ensure our WYAAT trusts are in the best possible position to respond to this Plan, we agreed to undertake a review to help us to identify opportunities and challenges to ensuring patients receive equitable access, outcomes, and experience. Throughout the review, our team engaged with clinical and functional experts to gather valuable feedback and knowledge about each programme area. Extensive work was also undertaken to review service data and public health analysis, to ensure our findings were accurate and representative of our local population.

This service review took place between October 2024 and March 2025, and the findings were presented to each Trust Board in April 2025. Here, Trust Boards agreed a number of priority programmes for WYAAT to focus on going forwards, particularly focusing on sustainability and delivery within these areas:

  • Hospital to community care
  • Analogue to digital
  • Treatment to prevention
