vCreate is a secure video technology platform piloted across all WYAAT paediatric epilepsy services, which provides quicker access to care for children and young people (CYP) with epilepsy, whilst also reducing variation in care they receive.
The technology is a step change in how NHS trusts are using innovative technology to better meet patient needs, working in partnership to involve patients and families in the planning of care and improving access to support through digital means.
vCreate is a secure video sharing app that helps families and clinicians connect earlier on in the clinical pathway. The app has supported quicker decision making to avoid unnecessary appointments and investigations including brain imaging, helped to classify seizure patterns and allowed the secure sharing of patient videos for training purposes and second opinions.
Using vCreate across epilepsy services also helps improve the first year of care for CYP with epilepsy as demonstrated through many of the epilepsy 12 national audit indicators.
Epilepsy teams and the West Yorkshire Integrated Care System (WYICB) have been shortlisted for the HSJ Optimising Clinical Pathways through Digital award and presented to an executive panel in early May. vCreate also recently appeared in the Lancet Neurology: Improving epilepsy diagnosis across the lifespan: approaches and innovations.
Following this successful pilot, WYAAT trusts are encouraged to accept the business case for the continued use of vCreate within their epilepsy services, to further streamline patient pathways and improve efficiency.
