Hospitals across West Yorkshire and Harrogate are likely to be significantly impacted by resident doctor strikes planned from 7am on Friday 25 July until 7am on Wednesday 30 July 2025.

Working together as the West Yorkshire Association of Acute Trusts (WYAAT), our hospitals will make sure our patients continue to receive safe, high quality care. People who are at greatest risk of illness or have been waiting the longest for planned surgery are a priority.

Dr James Thomas, Medical Lead for the West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board (ICB), said: “During strike action, we ask our patients to please choose NHS services wisely.

“We advise patients to use NHS 111 online as their first port of call for health needs and ask that they only use 999 for a medical or mental health emergency [when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk]. These simple steps will help make sure NHS services are available to the patients who need them most.

More information on when to call 999 and when to go to A&E is on the NHS UK website. Parents and carers of young children can also find health advice on the West Yorkshire Healthier Together website.

Patients will be contacted if an appointment or procedure needs to be postponed and rescheduled. If we have not contacted you, please attend your appointment as planned.
